The day-to-day running of the business is the responsibility of the Board of Directors: Paddy, James and Tim Slattery.

James Slattery

Director Victoria & Queensland

James joined Pat in business in 2004 and later spent a period of time working in the insolvency industry where he gained valuable insights into the challenges faced by our clients. James is currently the Director responsible for both the Victorian and Queensland businesses. 

In addition to his dual-state strategic management duties, he is one of our lead auctioneers in Victoria. James’ knowledge of his clients’ industries has led to the Melbourne and Brisbane businesses becoming major hubs for truck and machinery sales.

Tim Slattery

Director Business Development & Strategy

Tim joined the business with a varied background in the legal profession, having worked in house for Time Warner in Hong Kong and Meat and Livestock Australia in Beijing, before returning to Sydney to take a position at Freehills within their Equity Capital Markets and Finance teams. In addition to managing Slattery’s compliance and legal affairs, Tim drives business development and strategy, which includes leading all internal business development projects in the areas of new technology, marketing and business process and creating and delivering game changing business solutions based on our clients changing needs.

Paddy Slattery

Director New South Wales

Paddy directs the operation of our Newcastle and Sydney offices, having taken over the running of the Newcastle site from Pat. In addition, Paddy heads up strategic operations for all our large-scale onsite and mining sales, managing logistics, remarketing and sales management. He is also one of our in-house aviation experts, a certified appraiser with the National Aircraft Appraisers Association (NAAA) and holds a commercial helicopter pilot’s license. Having such a senior expert as an in house pilot with a helicopter allows Paddy to respond quickly when required to visit remote locations frequently delivering huge benefits to our clients.

    Bruce holds a national role in the company with a focus on the banking, finance and insolvency sectors. His key priority is the continual introduction of breakthrough services and technologies that will continue to increase returns to our clients. Bruce comes to Slattery Asset Advisory with over 10 years’ experience in providing asset advisory services to these sectors. Bruce’s experience is coupled with 7 years working in the finance industry for ANZ and NAB in distressed file management, restructuring, risk, retail, business and corporate banking.

    Ahmet is responsible for growing and maintaining strong relationships with Slattery Asset Advisory clients. Ahmet joined Slattery Asset Advisory after over 30 years working in vehicle financing and remarketing for companies such as Capital Finance. Ahmet has extensive knowledge of consumer regulated lending, commercial lending and insolvency and this ensures seamless remarketing of all assets with a high priority placed on procedural accuracy.

    Senior Valuer

    Craig has worked in asset advisory and remarketing since 1991 and brings over 23 years of experience to our business. Craig has particular expertise in the areas of road transport, machinery, hospitality and gaming and has contributed greatly to the growth of our Sydney business in these areas. Craig is a certified practicing valuer with the Auctioneers and Valuers Association of Australia, a candidate member of the American Society of Appraisers, is certified in the USPAP standards and is a licensed gaming machine seller.

    Business Development Manager, QLD

    James joined the Slattery Auctions team after almost 6 years as a Director & QLD General Manager at a national valuation and auction firm.
    With more than 20 years’ experience in Queensland’s commercial property and finance markets, and has held senior positions within the public sector, property finance & investment groups, property syndication & funds management, and global property agency & consultancy businesses. He is also one of Queensland’s leading auctioneers and holds the Queensland record for the highest price achieved under the hammer for a real estate sale of $13,800,000. He has conducted more than 2,000 auctions and has conducted auctions in Hong Kong for a leading Asian auction house. James has managed significant property portfolios, devised strategy for major public assets, acted exclusively for Mobil Oil in the disposal of surplus real estate assets in Queensland, arranged structured finance for major real estate transactions, and developed property assets including shopping centres and industrial facilities. James has managed major valuation and asset disposal projects for companies and organisations such as Rio Tinto, Aurizon, Port Waratah Coal and the Brisbane City Council.

    Alison is formally trained as a Chartered Accountant and started her career in the arcade/gaming industry. Alison spent a number of years in Sydney as Finance Director with multinational gaming and software developer Atari Inc., before moving to London to head up the finance team for leisure industry icon Red Letter Days. Before returning to Australia in 2014, Alison spent four years working as CFO/COO for a professional insolvency firm KRyS Global in the Cayman Islands.

  • Michelle Hibbert

    Recoveries Officer

    Michelle joined the Slattery Asset Advisory team with over 20 years of experience in the debt recovery process, secure and unsecured collections and recoveries for consumer regulated lending, commercial lending and insolvency.

    Michelle began her career working as a paralegal for commercial and business lawyers who specialised in credit management for national corporate clients and managing debt recovery files in all Court jurisdictions. After 12 years, Michelle commenced a role working in motor vehicle finance with Suttons Motors. Her duties involved managing loss recovery accounts across the entire commercial and consumer leasing portfolio. Michelle also spent time locating skip customers on terminated contracts and repossessing the asset.

  • Paul Reid

    Senior Valuer

    Paul has been working in the Auction Valuations industry for 34 years, after completing the Auctioneers Course at Hawkesbury Agricultural College. Before joining the Slattery Auctions team, he worked for a number of different firms in a number of different capacities.

    Paul has taken part in Auctions of all sorts of items ranging from paintings by Charles Conder to massive items of equipment. He particularly enjoys the Valuation aspect of the industry and the immense breadth of assets that we see and conduct research on.

  • Kyle Baxter

    Senior Valuer

    Kyle joins the Slattery Asset Advisory team with a range of experience including financial reporting for both government and private sectors, insurance valuations, insolvency and financial work as well as share price allocation. He has been valuing assets nationally and internationally for over 20 years including a 2-year stint in New Zealand and has completed valuations internationally, in countries including Japan, America, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, and Samoa.

    After completing his Bachelor of Agri-Business in 1993 he worked as an Auctioneer and Valuer during that time he became passionate about valuations. He was employed as a valuer by the now closed Australian Valuation Office a subsidiary of the ATO valuing all federal and state government assets. To further increase his exposure to different assets he worked for the Department of Defence with the estate appraisal program providing asset maintenance and replacement information plans on all building, infrastructure, fixed and portable assets owned by the department.

    Kyle has also worked widely in the financial reporting and insurance sector for local government agencies in recent years as well as reviewing and valuing artworks, libraries, antiques and assets of a historical or local significance.

  • Stuart Forbes

    Senior Valuer

    Stuart brings to Slattery Asset Advisory an extensive knowledge in the valuations field. He begun his career in 1994 as an apprentice fitter and turner for printing and metal manufacturing before moving into valuations. In his 17 year career, he has gained both local and international experience in performing valuations and appraisals for insurance, financial reporting, insolvency, collateral lending and impairment across a variety of sectors from administrative through to retail, manufacturing and mining. Stuart has successfully project managed a numerous of large-scale valuations throughout his career by meeting the client’s expectations.

Incorporated in 1952, the AVAA has been instrumental in establishing and maintaining the high level of professionalism found in the Australian industry. AVAA members are committed to providing the highest levels of professionalism in their dealings with clients.

  • amea The Association of Machinery and Equipment Appraisers (AMEA) is the premier international association of specialist appraisers of machinery and equipment. Its mission is to certify and accredit the most qualified machinery and equipment appraisers through promotion of standards of professional practice, ethical conduct and market-based experience. Founded in 1983 by the members of the Machinery Dealers National Association, the AMEA membership has grown significantly and an increasing number of lending institutes are asking for certified appraisals conducted by registered members of the AMEA. AMEA members are bound by a strict code of ethics and rules of practice to maintain independence, integrity and objectivity, and to avoid situations of prejudice and conflicts of interest. Membership of the AMEA also gives greater opportunities for knowledge sharing.   • The Professional Aircraft Appraisal Organization (PAAO) was formed after the National Aircraft Appraisers Association (NAAA) ceased to exist at the end of 2018.

    The Professional Aircraft Appraisal Organization offers a foundation of education for those wishing to enter the aircraft appraisal field by offering basic educational information about value specific areas of aircraft. Those with aircraft backgrounds may well find these areas are not always considered by simple paper projections of value thus the need for specific education in order to properly determine the value of each aircraft that is inspected by a professional appraiser.

    The PAAO works to provide information and education to owners, operators, pilots, mechanics, flight schools, financial institutions, legal professionals, and the general public as to the value, importance, and need for a professional examination of each aircraft to determine the market value specific to each aircraft. Ongoing education for existing appraisers will be done using the Uniform Standards of Professional

    Appraisal Practice. USPAP is the generally recognised ethical and performance standards for the appraisal profession in the United States.

    Slattery team members Paddy Slattery and Tim Deeble have attended the NAAA aircraft appraisal course in the United States. Members of the NAAA now the PAAO are internationally regarded as certified professional aircraft appraisers, valuable skills for the Slattery’s team and in turn its clients. Membership of industry associations like PAAO provide companies and clients with the knowledge that Slattery’s staff take their responsibilities seriously and they can be assured they are being provided independent advice and reports that can be relied upon.

  • istat For over 30 years the International Society of Transport Aircraft Trading (ISTAT) has been dedicated to fostering and promoting interest and educational opportunities in commercial aviation while providing a forum for those involved in the aviation and supporting industries. ISTAT currently represents more than 3000 members worldwide who are involved in operating, manufacturing, maintaining, selling, purchasing, financing, leasing, appraising, insuring or other activities related to the commercial aviation sector. It is the premier industry association providing forums for increased networking and educational opportunities within the aviation community, through domestic and international conferences, airshow receptions and other educational activities. The ISTAT International Appraiser Program has established rigorous testing and qualification standards for members engaged in appraising aircraft and supporting equipment. ISTAT members who have satisfactorily completed certification testing are granted the right to use the ISTAT Certified Appraiser designation. Slattery Asset Advisory has several ISTAT members including Pat Slattery, Paddy Slattery, Tim Deeble and Matt Richards.

  • sams The International Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors (SAMS) is a United States based organisation comprising accredited marine surveyors, surveyor associates and affiliated members who have joined together to achieve and maintain a standard of excellence in their profession. Founded in 1987 by a small group of surveying professionals wishing to advance their craft, SAMS offers accredited marine surveyors an internationally recognised code of ethics with members having to follow a course of continuing education to maintain their accreditation. The SAMS Code of Ethics requires that “members of the society must be persons of integrity, who conduct business in a professional, ethical manner, undertake maintenance of the Code of Ethics and Rules of Practice and be dedicated to the preservation of life and property in the marine environment.”
